I understand that it was a tought decision as organ donors have to deal with issue of defacement , more trauma suffer by donor families . After all this , what kind of attidude/moralism should a donors possessed to make such a decision ?

Or people just walk in to register as organ donor ?
I sense cynicism.

My kidneys can help two people from having to undergo constant dialysis.

My eyes can help two people see the wonders of the world.

My skin can help someone who was badly burnt.

My heart can help someone live.

One person, one body. So many lives.

Do I need to think twice? No.

PS: the people in charge would ensure that your body is not defaced in any way - and you look presentable to your family/in the coffin. You'll still look 'normal'.

My family will understand what I am doing, and won't go against my wish =)

I got it directly on the spot.

I read an article when I was really young that this young boy who died in an accident in a foreign land saved seven lives as his parents decided to donate them to the locals there....so that kinda made an impression on me

Haha...there were some people who were against it. So I signed up officially because it's my body anyway.

It wasn't that tough a decision....frankly, after I'm dead, well, I don't really care what happens to the physical shell of me.

Yes, in my case, I registered online and received the donor card on the mail weeks later. And then, there was a registration card attached with it which I filled in again and mail it back to them.

Good question, i read about organ donation since i was small but didn't think much about it. Recently i read an article from The Star. It says for the past 30 years, only about 30 people donated their organs in Malaysia(figure might be inaccurate). Since then i've been thinking of organ donation. I still can't decide whether to donate or not. : (

I've registered myself as an organ donor through online system few weeks after I reached 18 (always wanted to do so since quite long before but sadly I was underage) but till now I still don't have the courage to tell my parents although I've received my organ donor green card months ago

To anyone out there who is reading this right now, if you're still hesitating whether to register not, please, give a step forward. To save one life is better than to build a seven-story pagoda.

However, do discuss with your parents beforehand, i'm a bad example here. =__= here's the link, http://www.agiftoflife.gov.my/register.php ( the steps are really easy and will take you less than 5 mins time, or even 3 mins)

by donating your organs, it help prolongs life. Bravo to that. But does it mean you are defying God by prolonging other people's life?

Btw, after we die, since we are of legal organ donors, there is no telling where the organs are going.

In the end, it may end up in the hands of greedy doctors who will take the organs and sell it off to the highest bidder.

Nevertheless, there is also a chance that the organ goes to the right place..

So, I guess signing up as an official organ donor is no use if you do not inform it to a doctor you can trust... signing up doesnt mean your organs will be donated if nobody knows about it.

As for me, I am neutral in this... I have been an organ/tissue donor as well as receiver before. LOL. I torn a ligament and hence the doc had to harvest the tendon from another part to replace the torn ligament. LOL. and i must say.. surgery is a very tiring and hard thing.. its best to not be in one in this lifetime if it is possible...

Think of it this way, maybe God wants him to live longer by providing him with new organs

Should I care? It's not like I am going to get a share of the money the doc makes from my organs. Wrong as it may be, but I'm still giving another person a chance at life.

Extending from that logic, we might as well just abolish modern medicine altogether since challenging any act of nature is a defiance to God.

Oh, tuberculosis is rampant in your country? Thou shall not have thy BCG vaccines for God might want you to get TB.

Down with end-stage renal disease? Whoops, no dialysis for you. God wouldn't like me prolonging your life.

That's like saying we shouldn't donate to charity at all because there's a chance our goodwill might be misappropriated.

And why would I care? I'll be dead by then. At least I know I'll be giving someone another shot at life.
