What I remember most was my statement above. For example:
3.03 x 4.1 = 12.423 = 12 (2 s.f.) since the
least significant figures given in the question was 2 (i.e. 4.1)
20.124 + 5.03 = 25.154 = 25.15 (2 d.p.) since the
least decimal places given in the question was 2 (i.e. 5.03)
This rule applies for values given in the questions.
"Where in doubt, put 3 s.f." was the next rule.
