It is harder for those who has less specialised degrees to get into jobs requiring more specialised skills, if not impossible.
Mind to quote certain examples to portray the scenario?
so far, frankly, i havent meet any medicine or pharm graduates embarking themselves into other fields. Maybe there is, There are some who are very passionate going into the field of social works. As far as i know, doctor or other healthcare workers must be trained perfectly in terms of their attitudes during their intership or their industrial traning. Just like what one of my cousin did, before she graduates as a pharm, she has to take a series of psychological assessment , patience level testing ( During her clinical training ) etc..all sorts of these assessment are very vital to ensure well qualified pharm to be produced in our country. if not mistaken they too have to attend an oath ceremony..Some sort like swearing(berikhtar).
This stands and proves for the professionalism they have to possess.

I wonder which professions consider as specialised or non specialised fields?

Is biochemistry, biotech consider as a speacialised fields?

i get to noe that it is better to specialise in a certain field rather than choosing for the general degree like Biology or maths.

But dont we have the chance to specialise it during master study?

for certain occasions, a specialised field or too new subject like Biotechnology is indeed a drawback to us. as we are not so familiar with the core of biology, yet we get our feet on the technology of bio. actually i would reccomend, study those subjects which are more generalised so what we are able to grasp tight of the knowledge of the major field, and we will then further deeper to those specialised fields.
mechatronic or mechanical n electronic is quite a novel n new major in malaysia, whereas in US, many of the top universities do not have this specified major foe bachelor degree. learning mechatronic in 5 yrs will grant you more knowledge or having electronic/mechanical in 4 yrs?? difnitely it would be the latter one. but, these are just my piece of advise la..

anyway, back to the main issue of this thread.
that really depends on your field of interest. and besides that, whether you want to start your buisness( big and long term or small and long term) OR you prefer to work in a company that owned by the others??
Pharmacy: after working for goverment(1 year maybe), then you can prefer to work in the food companies(mamee), pharmaceutical companies, and et cetera..working in those companies for a few years can really let you gain tons of experience. After that, you can go for MBA if you are sick of just being a pharmacist, and want to be in the admin board. OR you can come out to start your own buisness. The beginning is always the tough thing.really.look for money.look for partners.but when you have engaged in it, then its really a good thing. you must think discreetly, study MBA will allow you to be in the admin board can earn about RM100k per month if you are in those executive seats. starting your own buisness, for the first few months, you may be having air as your meals. long term wise, if you really make an effort and really contribute to your own buisness. your Pharmacy may become a franchise. and that gives you more than RM100k per month. p/s: franchise for local company(secret recipies) is RM 300k.

for engineering.you are quite diversed in the sense that. obviously you are going to work in an electronic company(national semiconductor, flextronic, infineon, intel, etc..) for years. same as the above, you can choose to come out or stay where you are. having MBA in an electronic companies(normally are those US companies) can let you earn a living of RM200k or more if you are in the executive post. most probably if you beat the target, the board of directors will invite you to work in the HQ(based in US). to work as the real CEO of the company which about USD2million per month is not exaggeration.but that is when you are about more than 35 years old story. if you come out at the young age, 2 ways:take the engineers license and be a consultant(own buisness) or start to have your electronic company(much much harder than the pharmacy).having an electronic company really costs you a lot if you don't fully contribute yourself in it. you need MONEY, PARTERNERSHIP, CREATIVITY, INITIATIVE. when you really manage well, your company can be listed in bursa malaysia. then, you will live a lavish lifestyle.

MONEY, PARTERNERSHIP, CREATIVITY, INITIATIVE
utmost importance.

regards.
