I'll try, but not in public either. Many of my friends coax me to sing with them, and I do so very reluctantly. I am, after all, a pianist, not a singer.
My friends just want me to sing because they want a bass voice to accompany their higher vocal ranges. Some also ask me to sing just to tease at my inability to sing higher notes (when notes get to high I always sing them at either an octave or two lower).
Darn!
Speaking of Frank Sinatra, I suppose you're familiar with the song "Strangers in the Night"?
My friend changed some of the lyrics to the song, to the point that it was very "suggestive" in nature. No profanity, and no pornography, but just imagine you're singing the song and you replace the lyrics with the following:
"Strangers in the Night,
Exchanging trousers,
Wond'ring what's inside,
Beneath the covers,
We'd be making love,
Before the night is through...."
