You could talk a bit about the Common Data Set, which is a very good source of information, and how to look for them.

Erm, may I suggest something here?

Since it is to benefit Malaysian students, why not convert the Book project into a Wiki project?
We can establish a Malaysian Students US application Wiki at www.wikia.com, then have Recommers contribute the articles according to the Table of Contents. To validate the data, we shall have only experienced people (alumni, current students in US) to monitor the whole wiki, edit those inaccurate information.

With that, we can complete the guide with collective efforts. It will also save the time for alumni who are busy with their work

Yes. In our Special talent column. Might need your expertise on this.

We are actually doing that (of collaborating and updating the info), but the people who are doing it are actually those who have gotten in. We do quality control on the people who are working together on this. We do get quite a few offer to help from among those who are applying.

The way we think best is for those who have gotten in and are interested to get involved, just let one of us know (caramel_nut, pinkpau, myself etc).

If you haven't gotten in, my wish is you can find resources and share it here. This would help make it more balanced. We would consider and grab stuff from here to put in too.

Keep the idea going! Thanks for the support!

Well, I'd love to help but I don't possess much expertise on this, sad to say, and was pretty clueless (which is why I suggested this matter for inclusion in the book ). On that matter, I don't have any kind of formal art training so I don't know what the formal fine arts folk would like. For my current application, I just chose 20 of my art pieces which 1)won competitions 2)were published 3)showed detail and effort and 4)showed a wide variety of styles. Then I arranged them in order of subjects and/or color, trying to make the progression from one piece to another not too jarring.

Maybe if I get in, I'll talk to the admissions and art departments to see what they prefer.

Haha, good luck! Sounds like you have quite a nice piece of arts put together!

Thanks. Would touch briefly on those too.

Anything else fellow ReComers want to see in that book?

We are compiling those questions that you ask in those US Applications thread. Those questions would be covered in the book.
