Lost packets? or is it just my ISP sucks?
This is a small guide on how to optimize your internet connection/data transfer.
Unfortunatly before i start i would have to say that i have so far not figure how to tweak linux or Mac OS.
So this guide is strictly for MS Windows Users.
Before we start, the first thing you need to do is download DrTCP. It's not a Program but just a GUI shortcut for your registry. Here's the link http://www.dslreports.com/front/DRTCP021.exe
After that do a tweaktest found here http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
After looking at the result you should get some idea where the slow speed are coming from. If you get a poor transfer efficiency, your TCP receive window (RWIN) is too large or too small.
Unnessary Packet like Window scalling and time stamping could be Turned off to get more out of your limited bandwith.
Here's an example of my Settings on drTCP.
if you have no idea what i'm talking about.. do the tweak test and paste the URL of the result here. I'll be more then happy to guide you.
