  #1 Old 13-12-2007 Default Simple sentences in nihongo.

This thread is started to encourage and stimulate the learning of Nihongo among Recommers. Hence we just type out simple sentence that we know,especially for basic nihongo learner. i would really appreciate if Schye can be out tutor,to correct us...and those who are pro are also welcome to correct and guide us here.

Hmm,as a rule,no vulgarity and so on...

the first sentence,

nihongo: anata wa kirei desu
meaning: you are beautiful

Nihongo: Yasuku dekimasennka.
Meaning: Can you make it a little bit cheaper?

This is quite useful when you are buying electrical devices in Japan. In Japan, all the prices can be bargained including those in big departments. The salesperson will call to their supervisor to ask for the permission to give you discount ^^

nihongo : dozo yurushiku onegaishimasu
Meaning : please be good to me.

use this usually after "hajimemasite" ...when we meet people for the first time.

Please be good to me?? O.o

Hehe. It's actually "douzo yoroshiku onegai shimasu".
It's hard to explain in English but it's more to "Kindly guide me (if I've done anything wrong) please" or "Please give me guidance" or something around that.

Although there are some word that we will skip, since this is a thread for new starter, let us stick to the right grammar usage.

1.
Watashi "wa" nihongo "ga" hanasemasen/hanasenai.
OR
Watashi wa nihongo "wo" hanasu koto ga dekimasen.

We use "ga" for being able to do something(can etc).

2.
Doko e iku?
Where are you going?
OR
Doko ka e ikou.
Lets go somewhere

Iku = go
Ikou = Lets go
the usage is a little bit different.

Yoku dekimashita.
Well Done!

I found this page from random search and it seems to be quite well designed for the use of beginner.
