Apparently the album was recorded way before the Negarakuku song.

I am bumping this thread in the wake of the latest Utusan incident: Do you agree with namewee's approach in his face-on attack towards social unjust? Do you think that our society's polarised view towards him is merely a reflection of the generation gap and the difference in expression between different age group? Is namewee doing more good or bad for Malaysia?

I think his attacking approach is refreshing and something of a jolt, but he's not going to win over conservatives this way, plus it's pretty easy to misunderstand him and label him a racist if you haven't actually looked closely at what he's doing. But I think that racists don't spend time making movies advocating racial harmony, so...
(Anyone watched Nasi Lemak 2.0 BTW? I heard it was pretty good, but it's not showing here in Singapore) Generation gap, definitely. Older generation likely won't understand a thing he's saying, and will just be left with a somewhat negative impression, what with the swearing and all. But I do think in the end he's more good than bad for Malaysia - stimulating the right kinds of discussion rather than just throwing negatives out there like katak Ibrahim Ali. |
