FAQ: Ausmat/SAM

No idea about ausmat...
can anyone senior share bout it?

Ok, if you are going to intec, this course will be lke a matriculation course in australia, you will have a lot of work(not homework), assignments. Basically, you will have like 1 and half year thr.
Year 11(the half year)
you will be devided into classes according to the course you will take.....engineering, biology and commerce/art. you will have 5 subjects:
english (esls):- assignments--a lot. eg. speaking, writing reviews, investigating and stuffs like that. Just make sure you survive that because basically you only have 1 counted exam.
physics--nothing much like form 5+little form 6
chemistry--same
biology(for biology clss student only)--a lot harder than any form 5 and form 6 although you will just learn about a chapter
maths--better pay attention although it is not as tough as additional maths (form 5)
C++--a computer subject. hardest of all and don't ever dream you can get bookls from seniors in ausmat. only ADFP seniors have it because we sold it to them

for commerce/art class sorry, i m not in that category.......

year 12: a lot harder than year 11. almost a very big gap
same subjects only with an addition of speciallised maths and also a deletion of C++. As i m choosing physics, sorry for those who wants to take specialised maths. Details cannot be provided here. only it is a lot harder that form 6's maths. Oh, you can choose package( for biology students only):

Engineering class--esls, physics, spec maths, chem, maths
Biology class--esls, physics/spec maths, chem, maths, biology

moral classes will be compulsory for all with 3 hours of lessons divided into 2 days.

basically ausmat is easier than IB but it is a 50 assignment 50 examination based course so makes it more difficult than A-levels(not the cambridge type). You can always find seniors there, so don't worry.

How about KBU? Any Kbu seniors here?

And, from the KBU browser, i didn't see any specialist maths in the subjects list.

Is it chemistry compulsory 4 engineering students?

Is ausmat n intec and kbu de same?
i think its compulsory for engineering student to take chemistry
tats my view correct me if wrong
seem like year 11 r relax but year 12 =.=

where are you going to study AUSMAT?? INTEC??
IMO, they're not same...
I'm in dilemma too..just wonder whether i'll still eligible for scholarships such as SimeDarby and SHELL if i take foundation course in curtin?? huhu...

hi, i was an AUSMATian before this.. in INTEC as well, AUSMAT 17 to be exact.. well AUSMAT in INTEC is the same as SAM in taylor's. and its actually under the south australian matriculation board of examiners

that's the pre-u that you will be doing.. another tips for those AUSMAT in INTEC, you can get the past year papers from the shops in front of taylors. hehe its call mac centre.. somewhere beside IDP.. just tell the boss u're from INTEC..

as i have mentioned before, ausmat in INTEC is under the south australian board. and this is the same as the SAM in taylors college though each bears a different course name..

as for ausmat in kbu, the matriculation is under the western board which is similar to the ausmat offered in sunway college.
