Nah,form 4 results are unnecessary.Only certain scholarships like ASEAN scholarship necessitate it.

Petronas, to whom I'd never submitted an application, called me after my SPM and asked me to go to their EduCamp. I declined. Later I got JPA, but no Petronas when I applied formally after SPM results were out. Hmm.

Keep your Form 4 results, when you apply to universities e.g. those in the United States, you may have to show them that.

Actually, u cn either get jpa OR petronas only, if u apply 4 overseas programme from both. Before announcing the results (via internet), they will discuss n divide students between em. If u've passed the interview, they will offer u a scholarship based on the discipline of ur choice.

As an example, if u were 2 choose a more critical discipline 4 jpa, say medicine, as compared 2 chemical engineering 4 petronas, u might receive an offer fr jpa rather than petronas. It's all based on a simple logic. U will wanna pursue an ambition of ur choice, not availability. As we all know, petronas only offers courses pertaining engineering, petroleum n business admin. Jpa, on d other hand offers u a wide array of choices, thus u primary choice will most often be observed fr wat u choose in ur jpa application.

Matrix is diff as it is under d ministry of education, not public service department so if u apply, u'll get it if u meet d requirements.

EDUcamp is a compulsory camp tat u hv 2 attend should u apply 4 petronas scholarship. It's a two-day camp where u'll b taking an IQ test n an English proficiency test, then ur interview. It's not tat hard, actually. If u hv successfully attained 9As an above, chances are, u'll b called 4 d camp. Invitations r via internet.

I disagree. Three of my friends were given the PETRONAS sponsorship, and they were also given the JPA scholarship after that. Therefore, we cannot say for sure that PETRONAS and JPA discuss among themselves and divide the students between them. If you happen to apply for PETRONAS sponsorship and also the JPA scholarship, you CAN be offered both scholarships, of which you get to choose only ONE.

As for the selection of courses, PETRONAS does not necessarily offer you a course based on your choice. Many PETRONAS scholars who are currently studying in UTP actually applied for purely overseas courses, especially for Petroleum Engineering, but were offered Mechanical Engineering in UTP instead. Students who applied for Engineering courses only were also given Technology courses (such as ICT or BIS). It is not based purely on your choice or availability of seats in campus. For PETRONAS, it is more of the demand for specific manpower.

While the logic that the first choice of course selected in the JPA scholarship application would generally be your primary choice is true, that is very subjective and situations will vary with every individual. To deduce that the first choice of course in your JPA application is the primary application (based on JPA scholarship application alone) is prejudicial. We cannot be sure of the student's primary choice of course until we ask the individual personally. Then again, for the sake of securing a scholarship, students would definitely project an impression that they are very interested in the choice of course that they made.
