I don't think headscarf is there to prevent rape. What was it intended for, by the way?
I read it in my friend's Islam book that it is to prevent "maksiat". To prevent hormone-peaking men from staring and performing sex crimes.

Not covering "aurat" is a sin. That's what some of my Muslim friends say.

But it goes both ways. So, if a guy gets turned on by... hair, he is committing a sin as well.

Best to let a Muslim explain on this though.

Has anyone read Lee Strobel's "Case For a Creator"? I am still in the midst of reading it and I find it quite compelling. It offers some insight on faith versus science from a journalist's point of view. I'd say it's quite a good read, even though I haven't finished it.

If any one of you decides to read it, don't just stop reading it at the first few chapters and make any judgements about the book. I made a pre-judgement about it when I finished the first chapter and realised that I shouldn't when I read the next two.

It COULD BE theistically biased, but in the end, as the author claims, it is up to us whether or not to share his views.

I just hope that this could be quite useful to answer some issues that were brought up in this thread, especially when it concerned issues about science versus faith.

Thanks for the link.

The current fatwa sounds reasonable and should not raise any eyebrow anymore. However, we should all be reminded that the last bolded line (yoga without spiritual aspect is not disallowed) was only modified after the public discontent regarding the initial statement. Initially it was stated that yoga was banned altogether, and it's the public feedback that forced them to modify their stand. And I hope this serves as a reminder that we should always keep our mind open and do not blindly follow any order from the authorities.
