How united would people be without being open and transparent - always doubting, never trusting? Here I echo the sentiments of Ben Folds - 'If you can't trust, you can't be trusted.'

I'd like to see unity not only within the country, but within all that reside on this fragile planet. It's a dream, but I definitely don't wish any harm than you! And it's definitely not just my own business - because without you, that would still not be everyone on the planet. =/

the truth is that we all are just fragilely bonded together with the fragile element named tolerance...

just look at how people react when certain issues which affect us at the national level but considered sensitive for certain reasons are brought out and discussed...

the past had happened, there is not way out of that, not even erasing that from the history textbooks...

we can't just build a generation of people who are plain ignorant of what is happening in the past just because it's bitter history, or just because they don't suit the government's political agenda...

there are a lot to learn from history. for us to learn the bad effects of war, how peace is good for the all of us...just look at the form 4 history book...it is supposed to be the history of the world, and the world isn't only consists of significant proportion of islamic history, there are a lot more to that...and look at just how the holocaust is being conveniently ignored by the historians who were writing the book...we all can learn a great deal from that...

we are all bonded with a fragile tolerance instead of understanding... but when a theme which will lead to more understanding comes out, we all shout racism...is this the way forward? i don't believe we have unlimited tolerance for that...if this condition goes on, sooner or later, the history will repeat itself... seek to understand an event from the view of all sides, not just from one side...

United? At the expense of sweeping matters under the carpet?

How do you deal with the swell of discontent?

If you are oppressed, are you just going to accept it and take it up your arse?

People who are interested in the debate over whether racial issues should be discussed publicly or in private might be interested in Patrick Keith's Ousted!, which discusses how Lee Kuan Yew's approach to racial politics differed from that of the Alliance's.
