who would have thought that such a man who has ruled his country with a hand of steel , will fall in this disgraceful manner a man so used to power so used to ordering , found in a dirty hole in the ground its like the days of Benito Mussolini and Adolf hitler. Minding that saddam is no less than them he destroyed a whole part of his country with chemical weapons just because they didn't like him. He killed everyone who opposed him , its the irony of life that he didn't die and leave this world escaping his punishment he got caught and the americans did a very good job humiliating him a thing in my opinion he deserves. Although it wont bring back the dead he killed.

Saddam is a personality that deserves a full complete research, he is a real examble of how power can be misused as power can be used in many ways mostly useful , he used it in the ugliest manner which is intimidating people creating fear amongst them making them revise the words they are about to say in thier minds , stashing money away in oversea banks and buying weapons of mass destruction ( i doubt it actually ) . while he could have made Iraq one of the most prosperous countries , Iraq has a supply of natural gas and petrol enough to make them one of the richest nations.

It is a case in which the old saying comes true " If you sow generously you will reap generously, and those who sow sparingly will reap sparingly" Saddam is reaping what he sowed , which was fear and humiliation.

Quote:
On June 1, 1972, Saddam Hussein led the process of expropriating Western oil companies, which had had a monopoly on the country's oil. A year later, world oil prices rose dramatically as a result of the 1973 world oil shock, and Saddam was able to pursue an all-the-more ambitious agenda through skyrocketing oil revenues.

Within a period of just a few years, the state provided some social services to Iraqi people unprecedented in other Middle Eastern countries. Saddam initiated and controlled the "National Campaign for the Eradication of Illiteracy" and the campaign for "Compulsory Free Education in Iraq," and largely under his auspices, the government established universal free schooling up to the highest education levels; hundreds of thousands learned to read in the years following the initiation of the program. The government also supported families of soldiers, granted free hospitalization to everyone, and gave subsidies to farmers. Iraq created one of the best public-health systems in the Middle East, earning Saddam an award from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). [1] [2]

In order to diversify the oil-dependent economy, Saddam oversaw and advocated a national infrastructure campaign that made great progress in building roads, promoting mining, and development of other industries. The campaign effected a comprehensive revolution in energy industries. Electricity was brought to nearly every city in Iraq, including many communities in the countryside and far outlying areas.

History is always written by the winners. He was unlucky enough to piss off the wrong family. Whether he was a good leader or not, only the Iraqi people know.

When you're no longer useful for someone else , it won't take a long time for the friendship to break especially in politics. In politics, there's no eternal friendship. That's why there's a saying , " Politic Is Dirty" and another saying, " Politic Is Not Dirty But Politicians Make It Dirty".
