#1 Old 19-03-2005 Default Any scholarships for STPM leavers?

Is there any scholarships offered for the STPM leavers to go overseas? I know of some for Singapore and Aussie, but is there any for places like UK, US, Canada, Japan and so forth?

Even if the tuition fees is covered, the living expenses is rather high, isn't it? Is there any funding for that?

Any reply is very much appreciated

Thanks ^.^

Wow, thanks. Sadly, I'm in Science stream, taking Physics and Chemistry.
And I'm only in Upper 6 this year, which means, I'll be sitting for the STPM end of this year.

Is there any else for science students?

hi, I'm also an U6 student this year in science (doing phy and chem, hehe) and having a compilation of all scholarships available for us is going to help TREMENDOUSLY.

side note: I was forced to take Maths S by my school, not Maths T, which is what is supposed to be a minimum for a lot of Engineering courses in universities around Malaysia. My question is, if I beat the CGPA cut-off, will I still be admitted even though I did not take Maths T?

And why do the Unis list minimum requirements anyway? I thought it's the big supercomputer in the middle of KL that determines where you go to? and that decision is based mainly on CPGA? Why then would they need to list out the required subjects a candidate would need to be admitted? As long as I am in the science stream and I beat the cpga cutoff, they uni should accept me, right?

Thanks in advance. I'm real clueless here.

Just curious about the folks here who plan to apply for the SC scholarship. If you apply now and want to go to US, UK, etc. wouldn't it be too late? Applications for foreign unis for 2005 are already closed (not sure about Aussie ones tho) and if you apply for next year's entrance, that would mean you depart in September 2006. What do you think? Is it worth the wait?

Wait...i dont really get your meaning.
you are forced to take maths S?but maths S is for art stream students.how could your school force science students to take it?

my teacher told us before that they will consider your CGPA based on the required subjects.meaning if you are a science student taking an extra subject from art stream, they will not consider it.thats wat i heard. so you better talk to your teacher.that would be more advisable.

the min requirement is actually for you to know wat are you entitled to study or to apply for.
i have heard cases where students not taking bio got into medicine.that was quite sometime ago.because the guy got 5As.he took further maths.
Not sure whether its any help but its all i know.

well,I am not sure whether its worth it or not.but if u really keen to go overseas and u can get a scholarship. Why not?but a better option is to apply for overseas uni when u are still in form 6,meaning plan ahead.if u get into the uni, u can choose to go or not to go.
I am not sure bout US,but i think UK one is still open for students outside UK,which includes us.i am not quite sure about it, but for those interested, kindly go to www.ucas.com to have a look.
