List of scholarships for STPM/ A-Levels

I hope the list below is not exhaustive:

Sorted by countries:

1) UK

a) Jardine Matheson (for Cambridge and Oxford)
No bonds attached

b) Oxford bursaries (full tuition fee)

c) Bursaries from other univ.
* Contact British Council Malaysia (S'gor dredging building, near klcc)

2) US

a) Ordinary financial aids from US universities.

- U often have to declare how much $ you have during application, supplement applications with ur bank statements etc... Advantage: No bonds. Disadv: only support u partially. If u don't have sufficient funds, I-20 form will not be sent to you.

b) MIT, princeton, harvard
- Supplement application with acceptable SAT1 (>1500 would be nice), and SAT 2 scores.
- All expenses paid, but u have to contribute by working as librarians, office boys bla bla...
- Contact MACEE for details

3) Japan

a) Scholarships from MoF (Minis. of Foreign Affairs). Mengbukusho (dunno how to spell), pls check out with embassy.
- It is meant for SPM and STPM/CAL leavers. U have to take aptitude tests before selected.
- All expenses paid, no bonds attached.

4) Australia

a) I would strongly recommend all of you to approach IDP education Australia (S'gor Dredging Building, near KLCC) for information on the MAAC scholarship, which is tenable at prestigious institutions in Australia. They come in the forms of partial and full tuition scholarships

b) Australian National Univ. Alumni Scholarship
- All expenses paid, call IDP for information

5) New Zealand

a) Victoria University of Wellington scholarship.
- Full Fee scholarship
- Contact New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Malaysia for information. ( IMC Building, near Wisma Rohas Perkasa)

6) Singapore

a) ASEAN Undergrad Scholarship
- Aptitude tests required
- 3 years bond
- All exp paid

b) NUS scholarship
c) NTU scholarship
-conditions and selection method similar to ASEAN

d) Micron Semiconductor Scholarship
- all exp paid
- 3 years bond

e) JPA - MoF Singapore scholarship
Call JPA for details

f) Lots more up for grabs

- Free tertiary education, exception applies to certain institutions.
- Contact Goethe Institute (near US Embassy, opposite TAN & TAN)
- Applicants should learn German Lang (intensive course avail.) and take a test similar to IELTS

Unsorted

a) Global Investment Company of Singapore
- Tenable at prestigious institutions ard the world.
- Engineering, Econs, Commerce and other courses are acceptable.
- Bonds of 6 years
- Benchmarking exercises will be taken by applicants.

b) MS Elevator Scholarship
- Local Public or Pvt institutions

c) Gamuda
- Tenable at prestigious institutions ard the world.

d) Kuok Berhad
- local public and pvt inst.
- also tenable @ NUS, NTU Singapore

For Addresses of the private company, simply google. Use www.streetdirectory.com.sg as a guide, as most of the offices are in KL city.

Well, there are more universities than just MIT, princeton, harvard.

Yale.

And a few other universities as well. And all expenses are NOT paid. It depends on your parents' income and assets.
Child of a construction worker = all expenses paid.
Child of a prosperous businessman = they might give you *some* money...

wow, >1500 ... out of? 1600? wonder how in the earth i could get that... plus the new format of SAT being carried out this year..anyway, I'm dreaming to get into MIT~

there's a scholarship i happen to know..the wesleyan freeman asian scholarship www.wesleyan.edu click on admission and click on applying....if you want to know more scholarships offered...go to mid valley megamall and get yourself "scholarship 2004/5"..it's very useful and i hope this info will help you!!

aww.. hemm actually I'm no A-level/STPM leaver, just an ordinary SPM leaver... so..yeah, you know what I mean.

adding on to the unsorted:
(e) National Science Scholarship
- sponsors 8 years of education for BS(3years) and PhD(5 years) at for any prestigious university in the world (US,UK, Aus etc)
- open for all Bioengineering, Biology, Biophysics, any life science majors and all Science and Engineering majors.
- open to all students from ASEAN countries, must get at least 4As for A Levels, 1400 for SAT I (old one) and 2100 for SAT II.
- 6 years bond in one of the research institutes in Singapore or NUS/NTU as a faculty.
- for people interested in Research and Academic positions in Universities
-only catch, must be singapore citizen after serving your bond for 3 years (obvious reason, you will be doing a lot of confidential research)
