I have questions for the this japan scholarship http://www.my.emb-japan.go.jp/Englis...olarship.htm#G

1.It's concern about which uni i'll be placed in since it never mentions about any of it or maybe it goes for any uni of your preference? (asking out of curiosity)

2.There is this phrase in the application form that bugs me [Description of desired employment to be taken up after returning home.] Does that mean the desired company to join in?

3.Accommodation i'm quite confident that it'll be prepared for you but just asking cuz i can't find any info about that too...

4. i just finished my spm and noticed that the scholarship for undergraduate but at my current level i'm suppose to be pre-u so if i'm selected then does that mean i skip from studying pre-u(STPM/A-level/foundation etc)?

5.Provide the e-mail address to contact the japan embassy for malaysia cuz i can't find it & the method is either through travel to there or by fax/phone but somehow i think convey through message is much more better

Any helps provided is very appreciate.Thank you~

1. You are allowed to enter any university technically, but you have to take the examination at the end of your first year there, and your score will determine which universities you can be admitted into.

2. It's more like what kind of job you wish to take up. Accountant, engineer, consultant, whatever.

3. Yes, accomodation is provided. You'll be staying in hostels.

4. No, you do not skip pre-u. You must have had 12 years of education before leaving for Japan.

5. What do you want to know?

Just a note that this is an extremely hard scholarship to get. The year before, they only accepted 1 for undergrad. This year 2.

Luckykid,
Does this mean that you must complete your pre U / Form 6 / etc before u can apply? or we can apply after form 5, and if you r successful, you do your pre U here (under MEXT) before u go over to Japan to complete ur studies?

luckykid, thanks for answering my questions.i'll try my best for the time being...well i'm quite concern with merlin's question too but somehow if you're really selected then you'll suppose to leave for Japan next year....if that the case, then studying form 6(lower form only) during the applying period also consider as 12 years education right?

I checked other forum & noticed that some said u can choose the course that's not stated in the application form but still considered in the area of [social science/natural science A/natural science B] for example, software engineering. However, the chance you'll be chosen will be low too due to they might unable to find suitable uni for you.Is that true?(The choice of choosing other than the stated course & the lower chance for it)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
this is totally unrelated but i have this urge to ask for it.I've heard from the uncles or aunties on the street always mentioned about how fast u need to submit your application form once it's available since they've set a quota let see 300 people (requirement 8A+) so does that mean the rest other than the 300th person will be automatically ignore since they've got wut they want...(somehow i think it's true since if i'm in their shoes i'll do the same too,it just like you've already found your type of (girl/boy) why bother still choosing around and waste your time even there might be others who might suits your taste too)

You don't have to have completed your pre-u before you apply, but you should be done by April the following year, ie when you have to leave. I'm not sure if you're allowed to leave half way through form 6, as I don't think there has been such a case yet.

You can choose other courses, just make sure that there are universities offering that particular course. I don't think there's a lower chance because you still can choose a course after you've entered university that is different than the one you indicated on your form when you applied.

That's not true for MEXT at least, as I think most of the people who submit their application will be called for the test.

If it's clearly stated there for undergraduate, it's very obvious to me you need to complete your pre-university or at least had some level of tertiary education qualification. It's highly unlikely in my opinion for this scholarship to cover your pre-university expenses and your degree program unless it's stated, like the other sponsors offering this type of scholarship.
