You contradict yourself when you say that you assess a graduate with an open-mind and then say that products of local universities are "full of trash".

I do agree that most of our best students are in oversea universities right now. But that doesn't in any way imply that the remaining students are 'trash'. No matter the word 'trash' is to be taken figuratively or literally, for me, it's is unbecoming for a VC to utter such a sweeping statement.

Okay Shu Wen, you'll have to be a bit clearer. What's your position on this issue?

Brain is hardly a determinative criteria when it comes to education abroad. If anything, it's A LOT EASIER to get into most foreign institutions seeing how money is the main entry requirement.

I do agree that many local graduates are trash but the same is equally true for foreign graduates. I've had my fair share of encounters with students who went through 3-4 years in Singapore/Australia/UK/USA only to return with the same childish mentality and bloken engerris. Calibre is not institution-dependent; it is innate.

Is the UTM VC implying that UTM graduate is trash too? Does he means all IPTA & IPTS as well ?

Higher Education Minister statement should also be taken with a pinch of salt ! Local graduates being employed in multi-national companies ..Partly true..but for what job position? and does it include those don't speak english well ? Statistics shown that 90% of those unemployed graduate are bumiputra. http://anilnetto.com/democracy/worke...s-in-malaysia/

Bottom line - it doesn't really matter where you graduate. Ultimately, it is the nature/character of a person are that determines his or her success. Therefore it is ridiculous to make such big sweeping statements that Foreign grads are better than Local grads or that Local grads are trash.

I'd go out on a limb and say some 'trash' are in overseas universities thanks to scholarship controversies every year. That should be the most worrying in my opinion.
