#1 Old 10-04-2011 Question UK Offers (between LSE and Warwick)

I'm deciding to put Warwick as firm choice and lse as insurance choice in ucas. Well, warwick's conditional requirement is higher than lse for me and I heard that I do get accommodation privileges if I place Warwick as firm choice?

May I know of anyone who is currently studying in lse? (preferably accounting & finance student)
Can you please advice me on the life at lse and if possible, the benefits of placing lse as firm choice?

Another doubt of mine is, later if I've decided to go to lse instead, can I reject my firm choice of Warwick and go to lse? (lse being insurance choice)

Thanks guys! I appreciate your help! thanks in advance

Since you're going to do finance or accounting...I have to ask. How are the numbers? Can you afford to study in London? We are talking about an additional ~50% on your living cost and a higher cost of tuition over a period of presumably 3 years.

If things are still the same, once you made your decision, you cannot change it. So if you chose Warwick, you have to go to Warwick unless you do not meet the requirements i.e. Warwick rejects you. Not you reject Warwick.

Yes, I am clearly aware of the difference in cost of living. So meaning to say, I can't reject Warwick in any way IF (note, if) I have a sudden change in mind of going to LSE?

Btw, may I kindly ask whether are you a student in Warwick or LSE? I would like to know more about their exam structures etc.

He is neither a student of Warwick or LSE. He's a student in one of the Canadian universities, if I'm not mistaken.

hmm...as a suggestion, i would think warwick could be a good choice. ;) as reputation wise, both are equal. In fat, Warwick is also one of the leading unis in UK for humanities and economical courses...Plus, in terms of living cost, it is way lesser than what is of expected if your are to choose LSE.

If you can well afford it, firm LSE (I am not a LSE student)
Reputation wise, LSE >> Warwick

You can look at some rankings (just search online) and go to thestudentroom.co.uk to seek more opinions

Yes I've checked the rankings before this. I think that LSE and Warwick are equal in terms of reputation wise. I would like to know more about the studying environment in LSE though. :S

If u'd like campus life, go for Warwick. Since you're an offer holder, has anyone from Warwick called you yet? They can give u all sort of details bout Warwick. Bout LSE, i'm not so sure.
I think LSE has a better reputation than Warwick. LSE is after all a economics school right? SO they have BETTER marketing strategies! HAHA. They market LSE brand/name well! Annd, if u go LSE, when ppl asks you where u're from, u say 'London school of economics'. and they'll say 'wow, LONDON!' But, if u go Warwick. they'll probably say 'where's that?' LOOOOL

I'm very much in favour of Warwick.

LOL. yeahhh I KNOW RIGHT. hahaha. are you in warwick now? if so, what course are you doin? yup. a student from warwick called me like 2 weeks ago. lol. I told her that I haven't place warwick as firm choice coz I'm still contemplating on which to decide. so she kept comparing lse and warwick on the phone. lol!

yeahh. but I've checked out the course structures and the modules. I've noticed that LSE is much more technical with lotsa maths in its modules. lol. on the other hand, warwick emphasises much more on mangement skills in its modules.

LOL. I'm a post-STPM student, so I'm contemplating whether or not to go to Warwick! L100 economics. Haha, someone called me, and he gave me a contact. Cuz my offer hasn't been changed to unconditional yet.

I've read through forums about warwick. There's a lot of choices for optional modules! we can make econs more art-sy or math-sy if we choose according to our preferences!
