For this scholarship, these questions will likely be asked:

What is your choice of study and why?

The value of this scholarship is the maximum of RM25000 PER YEAR. Why not study in a local public university where the tuition fees are below RM25000 PER YEAR? It is crucial for you to stand your grounds if your university choice is a private university which will cost more than RM25000 where you will have to top up the extra cost.

Tell me about yourself.

How is your role, relevant to the rubber industry in the future?

Earlier this year, the MREPC CEO, Dato Teo took a democratic approach in allowing the candidates to meet their future employers and gave them a chance to impress the top employers of the rubber industry with their capabilities or risk being vaguely selected by any of the employers.

Only two of the top scholar recipients, I, being among the top two, were given an option to work for either MREPC or the rubber companies. The rest would have to settle for the rubber companies. Therefore, it is crucial for you to be out-spoken and excel in each of MREPC's scholarship selection process as there are scores for each selection process.

Before the interview, there should be a written essay test and a MCQ, science and maths based questions.

Generally, MREPC's scholarship selection process is moderate. I wish you the best of luck in your application of this scholarship.

Thanks Alphaeus for the info. May I know which uni are you in now? Because I just got informed that I am selected for the scholarship, but I am rather indecisive because I have many more other applications that are still pending... I'm just wondering that should I just accept this local offer? cry

WOAH! The results have been released??? O_O But it's barely even 2 weeks from the closing date!!! When were you notified and were you interviewed?
Well...When would you have to respond to them? Take some time to decide. What other scholarships did you apply for?

I know right! I read through the previous posts and I thought they gotta take a long time to decide. Who knows right after two days of the interview I already received their call. I went to the MREPC for interview. At brickfields. Do you go for the interview also?
Actually this is still early for me as I have not completed my pre u yet lol! I have applied to uk uni through ucas but I haven't even got an offer from them. Yet this is already accepting me. Can't decide. Haha!

You're utmost welcome and congratulations by the way!
I'm studying at Monash University but under a different scholarship though.
I had the same exact problem as you not too long ago lol.
As long as you do not take a single cent from the MREPC scholarship, you are not obliged to pay back anything. If your university course starts next year, then you shouldn't worry about it and just take the MREPC scholarship first.
