As a scholarship holder, minimumly, should maintain at 3.5/4.0 and above. Personally, a scholar should maintain 3.8/4.0.

A scholar have to prove that they deserved the scholarship, as the money is from taxpayer money.

I knew someone received offers from Oxford, Imperial, Edinburgh recently to read Bio-Chem. From world top universities. He had straight A+ for SPM, 5A* for A-level (forecast result), how come JPA did not give him the scholarship offer?

It is understood that scholarship is limited and only limited to a few. But if you are given the privilege of scholarship, isnt it your responsibility to maintain the highest achievement?

I dont know whether I should make a new forum or something, but here goes.

For you to know: Last year, during a PIDN briefing, the JPA person said that we need to get a CGPA of at least 3.4 to keep the scholarship and we need to inform them about our results and that we are accepted for Degree.

So, now my current CGPA is 3.245 and I'm pretty confident that I will get to further for Degree (I'm in CFS IIUM and will be going to IIUM for Degree).

Want to know: Seeing that my CGPA is lower than the requirement, do I still need to inform them about the result when I get my acceptance letter? And do I still have chance to keep my scholarship?

From my experience in seeing off my last year's PILN seniors, I don't think so. Even though some fell before the cut-off point to fly, they were not revoked of their scholarship. They were simply reallocated to a new place of study locally and discretely. Some of my friends within the JPA scholar circle told me JPA is a very understanding scholarship board and will try to understand your reasons for not meeting the cut-off point. With that said, it should be good news for you. However, you will be subjected to many people's criticism for not living out your responsibility of a scholar. I don't need to tell you the multitude of people who can outperform you (eg easily CGPA 3.8/3.9 above), have offers from prestigious places of study, wonderful extracurricular profile, awesome CV and outstanding recommendations but have been cruelly left out of a scholarship. Not only that, heard of quite a lot of people and those I know of who have taken up the PIDN offer for various courses of study are able to easily meet the CGPA 3.5 mark. Not trying to being mean and make you feel bad about under-performing, but perhaps you had better find a way to improve your grades later should you be allowed to continue to hold the scholarship (which I am quite sure you will be allowed to) That is, unless you don't think your conscious won't be bugging you about the tax money involved, others who are more needy, etc. Finally, of course you'll need to inform them of your results. I heard from a friend that it's part and parcel of the standard procedure for them to ask for your results. All the best

Erk.. I deserve that I guess.. Nah, don't worry about it. I already beat myself up for it in the last sem, seeing that I failed even to get the lowest gpa of 3.0 (Maybe it was the shock of finally living alone with no lease, but frankly, I have no excuse other than I deserved that result). I have even thought that I should just try my hardest for this sem, get into uni and then just apply again for JPA scholarship for the second year.

Example from my siblings that got PILN, I think JPA is quite understand about your result. But, I have my doubt on whether this just apply for PILN, thus the reason why I'm freaking out.

It's alright. This is not a fault finding session. What happens, happened. I'm sure you tried your best. Maybe you should call JPA?
