That depends on your own capabilities, doesn't it? . Ask yourself which subjects you're weak at, whether you understand what your teachers say and how well they guide you when you have problems, and whether you will require additional coaching.

As for recommendations for tuition centres, places like Kasturi, Yakin and Cekap are supposed to be good. Try checking with your friends (it's been years since I took STPM so I'm not sure whether the same teachers are still teaching there).

Well the subjects you THINK you may be good at in form 5 might not be what you WILL BE good at in form 6 since it is a different ballgame all together

If you compare it with the old syllabus, the new syllabus is much more watered down really. It will be definitely more competitive since the average students will be playing at the same field as those above average. All students are basically on the same ground right now. So the key really is to work hard since day 1

As for what subjects you plan to take, it depends on what your aim really is in the future, and your capacity as well. Physics, though one might plan to pursue a career in life sciences and might disregard it, is extremely useful in the basis of understanding and conceptualizing while consolidating your facts. Having said that, one who plans to pursue engineering will find that knowledge in biology gifts one with foresight on incorporating technology and life.

A little more extra information is no harm; what kills is knowing too little !!

Think carefully of what you choose. Most would think that form 5 is where life changes, that an A star star indicates how highly intelligent one is. Honestly, that is worth nothing AT ALL. What puts you into a real challenge is going through form 6. Choose wisely.

As for tuition, it is extremely important that you have an excellent tutor who is able to condense crucial information in a short time into your brain. Remember that you will still have to study up quite a vast bit of information albeit the new syllabus

These sites may be able to help you in searching for a tuition teacher aside from providing additional information on what STPM is all about.

Personally, I would recommend Mr Lingam. He is both at Kasturi KL and has started on his own in Kelana Jaya. If you do study under him (ESPECIALLY CHEMISTRY !!), you will realize how much more information there is out there in this world.

All the best in your future endeavours

Ok. Here is the thing. There is absolutely no one subject that is more important than the other when it comes to science as ALL are EQUALLY important. All sciences, regardless BIO, CHEM or PHYSICS, stem from SCIENCE itself !!! They will all be extremely useful to you as they are all connected.

Being worried about loosing interest should never come up at all. Once you have committed into studying a subject, don't you think it plausible to see it through till the end? Although there are many factors which may result in you loosing interest in studying, such as a non-conducive environment or an incompetent teacher in school or whatever the reason may be, you ought to be able to overcome that as many of your peers are sitting for the same examination, and are in the same class. So look out for friends who are doing well in class, and learn from them. Perhaps, an excellent tutor may spark interest in a subject which you might not enjoy at all. It really depends !!

As for career wise, it is good that you have an idea on what you aim for; however, as time goes by, you might evolve in your thoughts as STPM moulds your mind in the process. Keep your options open, while focussing on your 2 choices at the same time.

I think it would be wise to tell you that sciences would allow you to stretch far in life, especially if you are aiming to shine in university. Whatever it is, a strong foundation in STPM will help you MORE than you can EVER imagine RIGHT NOW. You might think I am suggesting you to take up 5 subjects (which I actually am =p), but again you have to choose. Just close your eyes, and ask yourself if you will regret your choices at the end of the day, and you will find the answer. Really, make a wise decision that you will not regret.

I hope that helps

All the best
Cheers

P/S I heard that Mr Lingam is starting the new syllabus next week. If you would like a seasoned teacher's opinion and are still in a dilemma , why don't you contact him directly? Just PM me if you want his number. He will walk you through it.
