Not sure about Penang, but I've seen in at KLCC's Kinokuniya. Perhaps try Amazon.com or university bookshops. You can always file in a special order too, or ask your school's library to procure it (for some reason they tend to choose Giancoli's). Pricey but definitely worth it.

Pelangi better. Got more examples of the 90s, which are more in depth.

To buy form six books or reference books, go to Mukim Pustaka at Jalan TAR.

U can get local as well as overseas reference books for almost all subjects at cheaper price.

I.e. Haliday and resnick physics (non-hardcover) for roughly RM80 (if u go places like kinokuniya, it'll cost u a bomb)
Campbell bio also around RM 80.
They have plenty of variety there. And u did say u want to find books with less words for PA? They have the most comprehensive collection of PA ref books there. Even from publishers u've never heard of.

http://www.panoramio.com/photo/37383350 - this is the place. take LRT to Bandaraya, then walk a bit.

Oxford Fajar contains lots of details which I think that is unnecessary.
I used Longman for PA,compact and easy to flip through.

for physics, u don't need to thick thick book like longman or oxford. cause it is more in understanding. so i think u just get pelangi book enough ald..and, u must get a good physics teacher which is very pro in explanation.

Yup, if you just want to get an A for Physics, I strongly recommend you to buy Books written by Mr. Poh Liong Yong. I think Ace Ahead have it. Last time I use Pelangi.
If you want to prepare for National Physics Quiz, or want to go beyond A, then try to use, Physics for Scientist and Engineers or Fundamental of Physics.
If you want to prepare for Nanyang Physics Competition, you have to be good at Mechanical topics, which I feel very lacking in STPM. (A-level books might help in this area)
I also find that A-level books are good, but I did not use them so I cant compare A-level with STPM.

Fundamental of Physics I don't think can be found in Penang, but Physics for Scientist and Engineer can be found in Tan Mark
However you can check the website http://www.kinokuniya.com/ and can book online.

For those who are very interested in Physics and have a strong math background (Calculus and Vector operations) then Physics for Engineers and Scientists by Paul A Tipler is an excellent book. It is beyond STPM, but if your goal is to gain knowledge and use Physics to gain a better understanding of the physical world and modern day high technology then this is the right book.
Books like "Fundamentals of Physics (Halliday, Resnick and Walker)" are good physics books, but Tipler is more up to date in term of modern examples. As examples, analysis of Earth's energy balance in respect to global warming. How Atomic force microscope works etc. A lot of the analysis are taken from real life examples that are relatively new.
The book has been used as the text book for the first physics course, for talented students who have taken or are taking first year university level calculus. For those who enjoy Holliday and Resnick, this book is even more fun. I wish I had this book when I was a student.
