Labour Day present from Putrajaya - RON97 up by 20 sen!

Sept 2009 - RM 2.00
July 2010 - RM 2.10
Nov 2010 - RM 2.15
Dec 2010 - RM 2.30
Jan 2011 - RM 2.40
Feb 2011 - RM 2.50
April 2011 - RM 2.70
May 2011 - RM 2.90!

RON97 price hits record high

ron97 is not subsidized and its price is adjust accordingly with the market actively

It's subsidised, just not much compared to RON95.

Though the price keep rising, our fuel price is considered among the lowest worldwide. One thing is that Singaporeans always take advantage on our low fuel price.

Though Ron97 is expensive, it's a very efficient fuel, gives car more thrust.

Some cars are optimised for RON95, using RON97 won't give much improvement.

In the case of my Saga BLM, I don't actually feel much difference in using RON97, and the mileage gained is not enough to offset the increase in cost...

RON refers to the octane rating, higher RON rating fuels will only ignite spontaneously at a higher compression force. Most street variety cars are optimised for low RON, and using higher RON will not necessarily add more mileage or power to it. In fact the most noticeable increase if you use a RON 97 fuel will be your monthly fuel expense. Only high performance engines will benefit noticeably from RON 97 fuel.
