Iraq Money Scam

I first heard about it back 2006, when some friends talked about buying Iraqi Dinars (IQD) based on false rumors that Iraq will be gaining democracy soon so it will need to revalue its money to about 3.16USD per IQD. They told me that Iraq is literally standing on oil reserve, so just like Kuwait their economy and currency will climb back up soon after democracy. Any sane person with a little knowledge about democracy would know that this is nothing but a huge pile of crap. This story dated back when was in the UK.

Now in Malaysia I heard the same hoax perpetuated back in Oct 2010, before it quietly diminishes away.

But last week, I met a friend who told me he already 'invested' a sum of RM8000 to buy Iraqi dinars! I lol'd then I can't help but feel sorry for him.

Now guys, have you heard of similar stories? Maybe we should also educate people around us to not fall for this scam.
