Yeah I noticed that as well. I think the rationale behind that is that at no times would there be any female cabin crew who is taller than the male crews.

I used to think so, but the other day, when I saw a female flight attendant stepping on the side of seat in order to reach the height of overhead compartment to rearrange the luggage and make space for another passenger to put in his luggage, I wonder, why height requirement in the first place?

I am guessing that the overhead compartment is just a post-hoc rationalisation, and that the *actual* reason is similar to why asian airlines tend to hire better looking people as cabin crews - they look better.
