Hibernate has a call which allows the caller to get the current version of Hibernate Session. This way you don't need to create a new session all the time.

I don't see the equivalent call for EntityManagerFactory. Seems createEntityManager is the only way to get an instance of EntityManager, even if you want to keep using the existing one. Is there something equivalent in JPA?
